Street Preaching

I was out one Saturday giving the Gospel to anyone who would listen when I happened on a town hall meeting. Having being previously convicted by God to preach in the open air, and attracted to the possibility of having a microphone in my hand I stopped to find out what was happening. I discovered that after the main speakers were done, the microphone would be opened to anyone who had something to say. PRAISE GOD! He provided an awesome platform for my first venture in street preaching, wouldn't you agree?

Quench Not the Spirit

God opened a door for me to witness that led to unexpected results.  I have been working this week on getting a new Aaron's store ready to open.  One of the things we have to have working is DSL internet connection.  The installation did not take place when it was scheduled, and in trying to reschedule there was an aparent miscommunication with the Verizon sales team so we were looking at a little difficulty with the opening.  Verizon wasn't going to send anyone out in time for us to open as planned, but there was a Verizon truck outside the store later that morning.  Our GM asked the technician if he would help us out, which he did.  While the GM was telling me about the event, he told me how lucky we were to have that happen.   I corrected him, saying it isn't luck, but God, and I proceeded to thank God for the help.   It was great!

Later that afternoon, he began talking to me about church.  He has been going for most of his life, and he and his wife still go.  He misses most of the service as he takes his daughter to the play room when she starts getting wild.  I asked why his wife didn't and he said, "Because she really wants to hear the message, like she needs it.  I'm not that into it."  God designed that as the launch pad to give him the Gospel.  He listened very intently and asked several great questions, but in the end didn't pray.  It was the fear of the unknown, according to him.

Jesus always took advantage of everday events and conversations to point people to heaven.  We must not choke out a spiritual response God wants us to give in the course of our daily activities.  Telling this man that it was not luck, but God's hand that was the cause of the DSL getting installed was by His design and He used it to peak the man's interest.
